Biloxi Bay & Back Bay of Biloxi On Fire!

October 22, 2009

Back Bay of Biloxi, Mississippi 10-22-09 06:00 AM ( about 6 hours )

Man, it has been a while since I reported on this site. However, all I can say is that the light tackle inshore and barrier island fishing here in south Mississippi has been fantastic this summer, and it's still going strong.

My clients literally caught hundreds of Florida pompano on the shallow flats of the barrier islands, one of the best Florida pompano runs to date.

At this time, well, most of my fishing has been inshore due to high winds, but the white trout and black drun fishing has been excellent inshore.

On my last trip, Troy Whiteneck and his wife Susan landed 140 white trout, 25 black drum, 4 nice specks, and a fine redfish on a morning trip. Most of my inshore family trips have been quite similar, practically a bite on every cast.

The last couple of Florida pompano trips have been excellent too, but we'll have to wait and see what these cold fronts do to these exotic fish at the barrier islands. Sooner or later it will get to cold for them, but that's when the big black drum and bull redfish move into the isle's shallows.

From here on, a good bite on speckled trout, sheepshead, and black drum should be consistent in our inland waters, but the black drum, especially the small good eating size are on fire right now.

It's been a banner year for TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and I would like to thank all of the wonderful clients that have fish with me this season. Hey, it's not over yet by any means, but I can never thank the people enough that have made my guide service such a success.

Hey, there is plenty of excellent fishing before this year is over. Heck, I am already excited about the adventures to come in 2010, and how many people can say that about their job.

Regards and many thanks to all,

Capt. Robert L. Brodie of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS
