After work area 10

Jeff Head, Washington 08-11-08 06:00 PM ( about 2 hours )

To get away from the shakers and dead action, we went to south end of Jeff Head and saw TWO other 26' glacier bays. I have never seen another one out in PS, and saw two today. Nice boats :)

Anyhow, it starts slow and the bite came on around 7PM. We release quite a few 14" shakers or small Coho and finally had a small hit. Jim picks up and says oh, probably another small Coho. He says, but this one seems to be fighting like a keeper size. I grab my coho net and gets it ready. It hits the surface 50' back and peels some line a couple of times. Jim slowly brings it in, and its just swimming along side with the boat trolling. 30', 20', 10', and both of us says holy, sh*! Thats no coho, its a decent king! Well, he pulls it toward the boat, and I "tried" to net it with my small net anyways. It didn't fit and almost slid out! I wasn't going to hear the end of it if we lost him, so I somehow get his tail in, and head sticking out, and just gave it a quick heave. Whole head still dangling out, but the quick heave flew it over the rail and into the boat!

8 Released Shakers

Apple Cove Point, Washington 08-11-08 06:00 PM ( about 1 hour )

Started fishing out at Apple Cove just after 5, because area 9 was closed. We started picking up shaker after shaker trolling south. Finally we were clear of them, and it was dead for awhile.

Nice one! Can't wait to get back out there! Now that the Chinook are off limits in area 9 & 10 (Friday) I will target some cohos and probably catch and release a bunch of kings. It's just the way its been going for me in PS lately.

Jim, please eat that fish asap. I think your shirt is too big, put it on the fish...it might fit him better. -Kenny
